Pala: The Kappan faction of NCP is all geared up to join the ‘Aishwarya Kerala Yatra’ led by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala when it arrives here on Sunday. Though it is not clear how many people will participate, Kappan has asked his followers to begin the rally from St Thomas High School premises and join Chennithala’s Yatra. Sources close to Kappan stated that all preparations are in full swing.
Kappan faction claimed that at present the district committees of Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Kollam, and 22 of the 39 state executive members, and 9 of the 14 state office bearers are with him.
Meanwhile, Saseendran faction claims that it was Kappan alone who left NCP.
According to sources close to Kappan, the decision to join UDF was not only because of the Pala seat, but also the frequent secondary treatment received by NCP within LDF. Saseendran is of the stance that he only wants Elathoor to stand by him. Many are not interested to remain in NCP. The decision taken by Kappan has been evaluated as right, they said.
They also believe that Kappan’s personal relationship with the people of Pala extensively helped LDF to win Pala. Despite this fact, Kappan was not even given a humanitarian consideration in LDF, they further alleged.
