Kannur train fire: North Zone IG examines gutted coach, to brief on incident

Kannur: A high-level meeting was convened on Friday in the presence of Neeraj Kumar Gupta, IG, North Zone, concerning the fire inside an empty coach of Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express at Kannur railway station.

Railway Police and Kannur City Police Commissioner joined the meeting. IG would address the media after the meeting.

Meanwhile, police would soon record the arrest of a West Bengal native, who was taken into custody hours after the fire incident on Thursday.

IG Neeraj Kumar also examined the coach that gutted in the fire that broke out in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

According to officials, the West Bengal native into custody had previously set fire to trash in the railway station. However, police didn't register a case saying the man suffered from mental ailments.
