Kannur: A complaint has been lodged against an SBI branch in Kannur alleging that a person was granted a home loan using the PAN card of another person. The complaint was lodged by G Madhugopan, a native of Sankaranellur, against the Chalode SBI branch in Kannur.
According to him, the SBI branch sanctioned a home loan to another customer using his PAN card in 2017 and further granted a top-up loan in 2019. On learning about the incident, Madhugopan reported the matter to the branch manager in 2020. However, the bank took no further action even after three years, alleged the complainant.
“The only action taken by the bank is that they gave me a letter stating that both loans were not sanctioned in my name. As the loan details remain in my CIBIL report, it affects my organisation. I’m not able to take loans from other financial institutions and even had to stop the operation of a distributorship,” said Madhugopan.
Meanwhile, SBI Chalode branch manager said that the issue was caused due to a technical error that occurred during the SBI-SBT merger.
