Kannur native shot dead during hunting, companions say it was accident

Kannur: In Payyavoor, the owner of a resort was fatally shot while hunting. Parathanal Benny (55) lost his life in the incident that occurred at Kanjirakolli Elappara around 12:30 am on Saturday. According to preliminary investigations, it appears that he was accidentally shot while hunting. The probe is underway.

Benny had gone on a hunting trip along with Rajeesh Ambat and Narayanan. Both individuals have surrendered to the Payyanur police station. The two companions reported that while placing the gun on a rock, it accidentally fell, leading to the fatal incident. Benny's body has been transferred to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.

Benny is survived by his wife Sophia and children Clint, Clement, and Steffy.
