Kannur: The motor vehicle department and forensic officials on Friday examined the vehicle to draw more details about the Kannur car fire mishap.

The officials have claimed to have identified petrol bottles inside the charred car. They reportedly found an air purifier and hand sanitizer in the car. According to the officials, all these might have impacted the fire.

However, the cause of the fire remains ambiguous as officials are yet to give a conclusive version. More details will be available after due scientific analysis, an official said.

Kuttiattoor natives Prajith (32) and his wife Reesha (26) died on Thursday morning as their car caught fire. The couple was heading to a hospital after the latter started to experience labour pain.

The accident occurred near the Kannur district hospital on Thursday morning. The car had six passengers. Prajith and Reesha were sitting in the front seats, while the other four family members were in the rear seats.

Prajith had stopped the car after seeing flames rising from the dashboard. He then helped to open the back doors to get others out of the car. Unfortunately, the front doors got jammed and the couple got stuck inside the car. By the time the fire force officials reached the spot, the couple had succumbed to the burn injuries.
