Kannur: A BJP leader was booked for allegedly spreading communally flared message on social media during the Popular Front hartal in Kerala.
Yuva Morcha Kannur district secretary V K Smindesh called his fellow workers to "reply to the Popular Front threats in the same language." He is now facing charges of inciting riot.
In a WhatsApp audio message, Smindesh said the hartal was not applicable to his party workers and asked them to come together and resist attempts to impose hartal.
"We have seen worse in Panoor. The SDPI workers are challenging us. We should accept it and get ready for war. Everyone must come to Panoor by 6.30 AM," he is heard saying in the message accessed by mathrubhumi.com.
Meanwhile, the PFI hartal in Kerala marked violence at various locations. The high court has initiated action against the hartal.
