COVID-19 recovery rate in India crosses 80 per cent mark
Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran stated that BJP is using the gold smuggling case with political intentions. The opposition in Kerala is using the political moves of BJP against the state government, Kanam said during the show 'Chodyam Utharam' aired on Mathrubhumi News channel.
"I don't understand why the state government is blamed in gold smuggling case. The Customs and the central government are responsible for controlling gold smuggling. Gold smuggling is continuing through various airports in the country and it is the failure of the Customs and central government," he said.
The case is about gold smuggling in diplomatic baggage. Even after 6 months, the person who is said to have sent the gold could not be interrogated. The Centre is trying to extend the investigation till May when the election would be held. The opposition in Kerala also is supporting them, he added.
The LDF will not take a step back in the name of the allegations. We have already welcomed any probe against the guilty. The chief minister also took a similar stand. The central agencies can interrogate anyone. No minister has ever resigned only because he was probed, Kanam stated.
Sivasankar was removed as principal secretary of CM due to his alleged contact with the accused in the case. Some media and the opposition are trying to blame the government. The central agencies could not even meet the main accused. The allegations are raised with political intentions.
The minister did not ask to bring Quran here and he should not be blamed for that. Modi-led government is using the central agencies with political agenda. If it is against the LDF in Kerala, the same is done to Congress in other states, Kanam made it clear.
