Kochi: The court deferred the petition filed by MLA MC Kamaruddin requesting to quash the FIR registered in Fashion Gold deposit scam.

The trial was completed on the petition filed by Kamaruddin. The government stated in the court that Kamaruddin is the key conspirator in the scam and he used his political influence for the fraud.

Kamaruddin argued in the court that he was named accused in a cheating case. But the amount deposited by investors could not be returned only because the business was at loss. This does not come under the purview of cheating, he claimed.

However, the government completely rejected his arguments. The cheating case exists as the investors were promised that their money will be returned and then they were cheated, the prosecution pointed out.
