Wayanad becomes first 'fully vaccinated' district; all above 18 yrs receive first jab

Kalpetta: Collector Adeela Abdulla informed that Wayanad has become the first district in Kerala to complete the first dose vaccination of all above the age of 18 years. She informed through a Facebook post that the people who tested positive for COVID, under quarantine, and those who rejected the vaccine are not included in this vaccinated group.

6,16,112 people were given the first dose of the vaccine and 2,13,311 people were given the second dose (31.67%) in the district. She also congratulated the healthcare workers, officials, people’s representatives and other frontline workers for achieving the goal within a limited time.

The vaccination drive is progressing by following the vaccination plan prepared by the local bodies. There are 28 mobile teams equipped to carry out the vaccination drive even in remote areas.

The mobile teams concentrating on the tribal areas administered the vaccine through special missions. They visited the houses of bedridden people and gave vaccines. 636 such bedridden patients were given the vaccine.

The district collector also said that the district administration, local bodies, Scheduled Tribes Development Department, Kudumbashree and Asha workers were part of the mission.
