Kochi: Transport commissioner has issued direction to cancel the permit of Kallada Travels bus in which three passengers were thrashed by the crew.
Police have asked the owners to present the bus before them. DGP Lokanath Behera spoke to one of the eyewitnesses of the incident and assured that stringent action will be taken against the culprits. Meanwhile, state transport minister has sought a report regarding the incident.
The Kochi city police commissioner said police would investigate if the bus crew had conspired to thrash the passengers.
The police have taken three persons, including the manager of Kallada Travels, under custody in this regard. They were identified as jithesh, Jithin and Girilal.
Cases under related sections will be booked after recording the statements of the passengers, police added.
The police have asked the owner of the bus, the Suresh Kallada Group, to bring the bus to Maradu station. However, the owners have informed the police that the bus was in Bengaluru. In reply, the police have directed them to bring the bus to the station as soon as possible.
The police will register more cases under related sections after recording the statements of the students and passengers who were thrashed by the bus crew.
Thiruvananthapuram native Anjay Ghosh, Palakkad native Muhammed Ashkar and Sulthan Bathery native Sachin were manhandled by the staff and asked to get out of the bus. Police booked case as per the details given by Anjay Ghosh.
Ashkar and Sachin are students studying in Erode. They had gone to Thiruvananthapuram to a friend’s house and were returning when the incident occurred. Anjay Ghosh was going from Thiruvananthapuram to Thrissur.
A co-passenger in the bus Jacob Philip had posted about the incident that happened inside the bus on his Facebook page and sought help for the three persons. The incident happened on Saturday midnight.
