Kalaprathibha, Kalathilakam titles should be restored: Vinduja Menon
Actress and former Kalathilakam title holder Vinduja Menon opined that the Kalaprathibha and Kalathilakam titles in State School Youth Festival should be restored. She said this while attending the 60th State School Youth Festival held in Kanhangad.
“After 2005, Kalaprathibha and Kalathilakam titles were cancelled and no one was given the recognition for best talent. As person who was titled as Kalathilakam, I know how important the recognition and encouragement it gives us. It is my humble request to the government, education minister and DPI that the Kalaprathibha and Kalathilakam titles should be restored. Also the first, second and third prizes in events should be brought back,” Vinduja said.
Vinduja also talked about the huge public participation in the youth festival in Kasaragod. The reason for the huge participation is that everyone who takes part are given prizes. She added that she wishes the school youth festival, being the largest of its kind in the world, should be featured in the Guinness Book. Vinduja was titled as Kalathilakam in the 1991 State School Youth Festival held in Kasaragod.
