Kochi: Excise minister M V Govindhan said that in case of any negligence found on the part of the excise officials regarding the seizure of Rs 11 crores worth drugs, strict actions will be taken against them. He also assured that no culprits associated with the case would be protected.
The officers are also asked to carry out an efficient investigation into the case. The excise commissioner is also requested to submit a detailed report by Wednesday evening. The minister also stated that no concession from the part of the government will be made in this regard.
MDMA drug was seized from a flat in Kakkanad by a special squad from Thiruvananthapuram. Two people who were arrested from the spot were handed over to the Ernakulam Range Excise office. Later, Excise and customs raided two other flats and arrested the seven people.
Though seven people were arrested in connection with the case, only five people were produced in the court. A woman and a man from the group of arrested were exempted by the Excise when produced in the court.
