Kadakampally backs reservation for economically backward
Malappuram: Reservation based on economic conditions is the need of the hour, said Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran.
“Rich and poor can be found among people belonging to upper and lower castes. We want reservation for economically backward persons irrespective of their caste and religion. This is CPM’s stance,” he said while addressing the gathering after inaugurating the national meeting of Sree Pushpaka Brahmana Seva Sangam.
“Brahmins are the victims of land reforms. Vast area of land possessed by few persons were handed over to thousands. Even after the implementation of land reforms, several still remain landless. As per the data available with the state government, nearly two lakh persons, including Brahmins, lack accommodation facilities,” he added.
