Kadakampalli clarifies on row over Sabarimala revenue
Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom minister Kadakampalli Surendran has replied with facts and figures to the allegations that the government is siphoning off funds to the treasury from the money accumulated under Travancore Devaswom Board, including that of Sabarimala temple.
Travancore Devaswom Board received Rs 683 crore, including the revenue from Sabarimala temple in the year 2017-18. Of this, Rs 678 crore was spent for meeting the expenses of the temples and paying salary and other benefits of the Devaswom Board staff. The minister explained in this regard through a Facebook post.
The government is spending huge amounts for the development activities in the state and Rs 70 crore was granted for Devaswom Boards alone. The minister also said that a conspiracy is taking place to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of the state and to hinder the daily affairs of the temple.
