Inmates create ruckus in Kannur jail, two shifted to another prisons

Kannur: The Central Prison on Thursday witnessed dramatic scenes as some inmates who were booked under Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) turned into two groups and fought each other.

They are housed in the high-security block at the prison. The incident happened when the inmates were released for lunch.

The two groups had a verbal spat and it ended up in a clash.

One group was comprised of Kottayam natives Jayesh, Abin and Sujesh. Ernakulam native Sreejith Bilal and Kannur native Athul John Rosario were in the other group.

The wardens intervened and brought the situation under control.

Following the incident, the jail authority shifted Jayesh to district jail and Abin to sub-jail.
