New Delhi: The BJP is gearing up to use the Muttil tree felling case as cover to save their face in Kodakara black money case. BJP state president K Surendran has sought the Union Forest Ministry intervention in the tree felling case.

Earlier, a case was booked against K Surendran for threatening K Sundara, who filed nomination in Manjeshwaram and the probe into Kodakara black money case is progressing. Following this, BJP is trying to counter the moves of the government.

K Surendran, who is currently in Delhi, will meet Union Minister for Forests Prakash Javadekar for this purpose. As forest comes under the concurrent list, the involvement of forest department in the tree felling case is suspected. Both the state and Centre have authority to intervene in the case.

Considering this, BJP is trying to seek explanation from Forest Conservator who is involved in the issue and thereby cornering the state government. However, Surendran did not get appointment to meet the forest minister. He is likely to meet the minister within two days and inform the matter.
