K Surendran slams CM for allowing Sivasankar to continue in IT secretary post
Kozhikode: BJP state president K Surendran raised a sharp criticism against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for allowing M Sivasankar IAS to continue as the IT secretary. On Tuesday, the government removed Sivasankar from the post of principal secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan after media reported his links with Swapna Suresh, a key conspirator in the gold smuggling case.
K Surendran alleged that Chief Minister allowed Sivasankar to continue in the post of IT secretary fearing his daughter’s links with the official.
“If the official continues in the post of IT secretary, it is because of the Chief Minister’s interest. When solar scam made headlines, Oommen Chandy also claimed that he has no link with Saritha. Now, Pinarayi Vijayan is also behaving the same way,” said the BJP leader while addressing a press meet here on Tuesday.
“Chief Minister is repeating that he did not know Swapna Suresh. But she is an acquaintance of the Chief Minister since 2017. They attended many programmes together. Now, many photos which have come to light are proving this fact,” he added.
“Swapna Suresh was in charge of the programme arranged to honour the Sheikh from Sharjah in Kerala on September 24, 2017. She was one among the VIPs who had the permission to talk with the Chief Minister and the Sheikh. She attended the five-day-long programme without any failure. Now, a new photo features Swapna whispering in the ears of Chief Minister during the programme,” pointed out Surendran.
He also noted that Swapna Suresh was present at the Loka Kerala Sabha.
“Swapna participated in Loka Kerala Sabha as she has friendship with speaker Sreeramakrishnan. The speaker inaugurated the branch of a company related to Swapna in Thiruvananthapuram. Many VIPs in the cabinet and CPM leaders have friendship with Swapna. So, it is confirmed that the Chief Minister knows her for a long time. I am making all these statements with solid evidence. If I’m lying, let them dismiss all these facts as mere allegations. And then, I will respond to them,” said Surendran.
