Thrissur: BJP state president K Surendran said there was a conspiracy to destroy the famed Thrissur Pooram.
Speaking to media, Surendran doubted if the situation related to the festival was a continuation of the Sabarimala issue. He added that there were efforts citing technical reasons to spoil the charm of the festival.
“It is doubtful if the recent happenings are a continuation of the recent and ongoing efforts against Thrissur Pooram. The district collector’s eagerness in the matter is suspicious,” said the BJP leader.
Meanwhile, a meeting between elephant owners and ministers to solve the issue of parading elephants for Thrissur Pooram began here.
Ministers Kadakampally Surendran, V S Sunil Kumar and K. B. Ganesh Kumar MLA are holding discussions with representatives of the elephant owner’s association.
Earlier, elephant owners had declared that they would not give jumbos for any festival after May 11 if the ban on Thechikottukavu Ramachandran was not lifted.
