Thiruvananthapuram: The assembly election results show that the LDF has rewritten history and ensured second term. Senior leader K Muraleedharan and his sister Padmaja Venugopal are among those who faced a major defeat in the LDF wave.
Though a strong triangular contest was expected in Nemom, K Muraleedharan never gained lead and was pushed to the third spot behind NDA candidate Kummanam Rajasekharan. As per latest reports, LDF candidate V Sivankutty won Nemom seat with a majority of over 2000 votes.
The people of Kerala decided that BJP should not win and supported Sivankutty. Earlier, Muraleedharan was elected as MLA from Vattiyoorkkavu.
Meanwhile, Padmaja Venugopal, sister of K Muraleedharan, was defeated in Thrissur seat. LDF’s P Balachandran won there with a majority of over 1000 votes. NDA candidate Suresh Gopi was leading in the initial hours, but he was pushed to third place later.
Padmaja was leading during the counting of postal ballots. However, the lead kept changing till the last round and finally Balachandran won the game with clear majority.
