Kollam: Tense moments prevailed in front of the DCC office here on Wednesday as section of Congress activists hurled rotten eggs at the vehicle in which party leader Rajmohan Unnithan was travelling.
His vehicle also was damaged by them.
Unnithan had reached Kollam to participate in the Congress foundation day celebrations. Activists supporting Muraleedharan gathered in front of the DCC office and smashed Unnithan's car and attempted to manhandle him. Following this, the activists threw rotten eggs at Unnithan's car. Activists supporting Muraleedharan had said that they would strongly protests against Unnithan. However, Unnithan did not take this seriously and reached the DCC office.
Unnithan declined to comment on the incident.
The verbal spat between Unnithan and Muraleedharan had intensified on Wednesday with both tightening their stand against each other.
Unnithan, who launched verbal volleys at K Muraleedharan, had resigned as spokesperson of the party on Tuesday evening.
Announcing his resignation at a press meet, Unnithan said what he had uttered against Muralidharan is true and if it is proved false then he is ready to tender an apology.
