K Kunhiraman MLA involved in Periya double murder: Ramesh Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that Uduma MLA K Kunhiraman and former MLA K V Kunhiraman were involved in the Periya double murder.
Accusing that Kunhiraman MLA was trying to destroy evidence, Chennithala alleged that former MLA K V Kunhiraman influenced the family members of Peethambaran, who was arrested, by offering them money.
He went on to allege that the person, who spearheaded the double murder initially took refuge in the party CPM area committee office.
“Peethambaran’s wife and daughter were saying that he would not commit the crime without the knowledge of the party. Efforts are being taken to sabotage the investigation. The police are not yet ready to inquire Kunhiraman’s role in the case. The parents of both Kripesh and Sarath Lal said the murders were as per the direction of Uduma MLA K Kunhiraman,” Chennithala pointed out.
“Former MLA K V Kunhiraman goes to the house of the slain Youth Congress activists, gives them money and asks them not to reveal anything. These are clear indicators that there was high level party (CPM) conspiracy behind double murder,” he said.
Kunhiraman MLA is trying to destroy evidence. Following a meeting to organize the welcome committee for the Perungaliyattam in Uduma temple, around 16,000 people had food from there. Despite being the committee president, Kunhiraman MLA abstained from the program. The CPM district secretary was in the area, he also abstained from the program. The double murder took place the same night. The absence of the two leaders is suspicious., Chennithala said.
The vehicle used by the accused was found near Kunhiraman MLA’s house. The MLA threatened the investigation officers. The SP, who investigated the case was transferred. Efforts are on to limit the arrests to just Peethambaran. The party expelled him even before he was named an accused, Chennithala said.
Peethambaran, who is a local committee member, could not have committed such a crime on his own. The weapons recovered, which the police said were used to commit the crime, were old and blunt, he added.
“Why did Kunhiraman MLA visit Peethambaran’s house after he was expelled from the party? Such actions indicate that there are conscious efforts from the Marxist party to sabotage the Periya double murder case. People including Kunhiraman MLA are behind this,” the opposition leader alleged.
It is clear that goons from Kannur are behind the murder. The investigation is progressing according to a pre-written script. Three friends of Kripesh and Sarath Lal are absconding for fear of life, he added.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the ongoing investigation, Chennithala strongly opposed the police not inquiring Uduma MLA K Kunhiraman’s role in the case.
“Uduma MLA K Kunhiraman is an important accused in the case, it is learned. So, the police must investigate the roles of Uduma MLA K Kunhiraman and former MLA K V Kunhiraman in the double murder case,” Chennithala said.
When the family members of the two slain Youth Congress activists are expressing dissatisfaction over the investigation, the case must be handed over to the CBI. If the government and CPM does not have anything to hide, why can’t there be a CBI investigation? He wondered.
The real accused have not been identified. This is the 29th political killing after this LDF government came to power. CPM has become an extremist organization. Political killings have become a cancer that has affected Kerala, he said.
