Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister K K Shailaja responded to criticisms against her in connection with Palathayi rape case. She stated in her Facebook post that no one who knows her personally will believe that she favoured the accused, who is also an RSS activist, in the case. The accused is an insult to the entire society. She also added that the accused should be given adequate punishment.
Some people are making politically motivated and personally insulting comments. The public should know the facts in connection with the case. The minister said that she intervened in the issue when she came to know that a girl from her constituency was raped. The government will do everything possible and will take steps to ensure the protection of the child. K K Shailaja also stated that as the minister in charge of women and child development, she will take all necessary actions in the case.
