‘Kasthuri’ climbs steps at Palani temple for Skanda Shashti festival 


Kasthuri, who is 56 years old and weighs around 4,500 kilogram, is looked after by Triprayar natives Prasad and Shankarankutty.

Palani: Jumbo ‘Kasthuri’ was seen climbing the steps of Palani Temple to take part in the ‘Skanda Shashti’ celebrations.

Kasthuri, who is 56 years old and weighs around 4,500 kilograms, is looked after by Triprayar natives Prasad and Shankarankutty. The Skanda Shashti festival which began last Tuesday will last for seven days.

Throughout the festival, Kasthuri will stay at the temple and take part in the ceremonial processions. When the festival ends, she will go back to Periyanayaki Amman Temple.

Kasthuri can also be spotted pulling chariots during other festivals of Thaipusam, Panguni Uthiram and Vaikasi Visakolstav.
