Pala: Following strong opposition from partner Kerala Congress (Mani), CPM changed its candidate for the Pala municipality chairperson election. Josin Bino, an independent member from Mundupalam, will replace the party candidate Adv Binu Pulickakandam.
Earlier, Kerala Congress had expressed dissatisfaction with CPM’s choice for the post. They said Binu had attacked KC(M) members when he was associated with another party. KC(M) said they would accept anyone but Binu.
When the dispute made headlines, Jose K Mani said that CPM can decide its candidate. However, negotiations continued and CPM accepted the demand. It is learnt that the decision has not gone well with the local leadership of the party in Pala.
KC(M) is accusing Binu of attacking its councillor inside the municipality building and supporting Mani C Kappan who defeated Jose K Mani in the Assembly election. Binu is the only councillor in the municipality who contested the election with the CPM symbol. All other members affiliated with the party contested as independents.
