Kottayam: Kerala Congress leader Jose K Mani will announce his political decision by Friday. The party will join LDF. Jose K Mani also plans to resign the Rajya Sabha MP post which was granted while cooperating with the UDF.
The date of declaration will be announced after holding a meeting with MP Thomas Chazhikkadan and MLAs Roshy Augustine and Dr N Jayaraj, the veteran leaders said. The meeting to arrive at the political decision was delayed after Roshy Augustine was infected with COVID-19.
The leaders shared the general opinion during the meeting that the Congress did not treat them decently though they have been part of the UDF for a long time. So, they have no plans to return to UDF.
Also they completed many rounds of discussions with LDF convener. The sharing of assembly constituencies will be finalised later. Only the declaration of moving to the LDF will be made by the party.
The party also decided not to make any public statement regarding the claims made by Mani C Kappan, the sitting MLA of Pala constituency. Presently, Jose K Mani faction will leave the decision regarding seat sharing to the LDF. They will take the stand that the LDF should decide about seat sharing when they join the political front.
