Kannur: BJP National Vice President AP Abdullakutty said that he joined Congress after leaving CPM on the advice of former Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. He remarked that he might have faced a similar fate as TP Chandrasekharan if he had not contested the assembly polls and become MLA.

His remark came following rumours circulating on social media that AP Abdullakutty might leave BJP following the Karnataka election.

He said that some "Communists" and "Congress workers" are behind the social posts targeting him following the announcement of the Karnataka Election results.
