Police action on Jishnu’s relatives brutal: CPI

'Lapses were reported on several instances, including the Law Academy protest, and this cannot be ignored.'

New Delhi: The police action against the relatives of Jishnu Pranoy during their protest in Thiruvananthapuram was brutal, said CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy.

“In Kerala, the police are committing mistakes repeatedly. Lapses were reported on several instances, including the Law Academy protest, and this cannot be ignored. In many issues, police are adopting wrong stances,” he said.

Responding to Prakash Karat’s remark that the CPI is not an opposition party, Reddy said the party is still a constituent of the LDF.

“Personnel attacks in the name of criticism should be avoided,” he added.

The differences between CPI and CPM should be sorted out after holding state-level talks. In this regard, the central leaders of both the parties would hold discussions,” he added.
