Jamaat prayer temporarily stopped at Pattalam mosque in Kozhikode
Kozhikode: It has been decided to temporarily stop Jamaat and Jumu'ah prayers in Pattalam mosque here until further notice, said mosque maintenance committee president TPM Saheer and secretary PM Kareem.
The prayers for the public starting from Subahi prayer will be stopped from Thursday onwards in solidarity with the government’s efforts to avoid gatherings to contain coronavirus.
Though there will not be any prayer for the public, azan (call to prayer) will be performed five times every day. Only the Imam of the mosque, Imam assistant and cleaning staff will engage in the prayers.
The district administration had convened a meeting of religious and community organizations to discuss about the COVID-19 resistance activities. It also discussed the suggestions to stop spread of virus through worship centres.
Following this, it was decided to temporarily stop the Jamaat and Jumu'ah prayers in Pattalappalli mosque, one of the prominent mosques in Kozhikode city.
