Thiruvananthapuram: Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh stated to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that minister K T Jaleel had contacted her to recommend for a job in the UAE consulate for an acquaintance.
The minister had requested 1000 Ramzan food kits. Ministers Jaleel and Kadakampally Surendran had visited the consulate, she told the ED. Details of her statement was disclosed by Mathrubhumi News.
When the ED officials showed Swapna the phone number of K T Jaleel and asked her if she knew whose number it was, she identified it and said that he contacted her several times.
She added that the minister called her to request for the Ramzan kits. Then he called for talking about the job for a person named Alavuddin. Swapna also stated that a request was filed personally to deport a person who was involved in a case in UAE.
Swapna also denied the rumours on having any close contact with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. She told the ED that the Chief Minister was unaware of the gold smuggling.
Swapna added that she met with the CM only once in the absence of the consul general. Her statement also confirmed that she had only official relationship with the chief minister.
