Jalandhar bishop case: Justice Kemal Pasha slams DGP

Kochi: Coming down heavily on Kerala police, justice Kemal Pasha alleged that the delay in the arrest of Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal, who is accused of sexually assaulting a nun, smacks of the unholy relationship between the bishop and the top brass in the state police force. Crying foul play, he said that the mutual concessions between the accused and the police is the reason for the delay.

“DGP had said that the investigation is in the last phase. But no arrest has been made until now which is unusual. Isn’t the DGP ashamed?”

“In such cases, the first thing to do is to arrest the culprit and make him undergo potency test. Even that has not happened in this case yet. Franco Mulakkal, on the other hand, even after facing this big allegation, hasn’t tried for an anticipatory bail. He knows there won’t be any action against him.”

Such incidents happening in Kerala is deeply mortifying, the former Kerala high court judge stated while addressing the protest staged by the nuns at High court junction in Kochi.

Some carnivorous creatures believe that when nuns don the religious habit, they lose their reacting capacity. Those kind of people commit these crimes. The government and political parties are now supporting them.

I have never come across such a humiliating case in my whole life. The government should remember that the public is witnessing everything , he added.
