Alappuzha: A man accused of multiple jailbreak cases tried to escape Kayamkulam Police here on Sunday. However, cops along with onlookers chased down and nabbed him.

Police brought Thiruvalla native Vishnu Ullas to Mavelikkara Court in connection with a jailbreak case. The officials produced him before the court as he needs to be shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail.

After that, they reached the Kayamkulam KSRTC bus stand. The accused intimated that he needs to urinate and officials took him to the latrine. The officials released the handcuff and the accused used the opportunity to escape them.

He fled the scene and ran away. Police along with onlookers chased him down and in the attempt, a cop was injured. They were able to nab the accused. The person has been slapped with another case for escaping the police.
