Mundakayam: A jackal attacked a panchayat member in Kottayam. Jomy Thomas, member from Velanilam ward of Mundakayam grama panchayat was attacked by a jackal when he went out for rubber tapping in the morning.

Jomy was severely injured and taken to the Kottayam medical college. Natives said they suspect that the jackal has rabies.
