IUML women's wing President, who praised BJP, removed
Malappuram: IUML Vanitha League President Kamarunnisa Anwar, who praised the BJP while attending the party’s function here on Thursday, has been removed from the post.
Though she had tendered an apology, the IUML leadership initiated action against her after she tried to justify her statements through social media.
K.P. Mariyumma will serve as temporary President of Vanitha League.
When the matter became a controversy, IUML leaders P K Kunhalikutty and E T Muhammed Basheer reacted saying that a decision in this regard would be taken after talking to Kamarunnisa.
However, the women's wing leader went on to justify her stance through social media, which prompted the party to remove her from the post though she had tendered an apology.
Talking to PTI yesterday, Kamarunnisa said she did not go for any function of the BJP. “The local committee leaders came to my house at Tirur for donation, which I gave", she has said.
Kamarunnisa Anwar had courted controversy when she praised BJP, stating that the saffron party was growing fast in Kerala and other states. "I wish the BJP will be able to do good for the people and for the state's development. We have expectations in this regard," she had said.
Kamarunnisa had earlier kicked up a storm by criticising her party for not fielding any women in the Assembly polls last year. She had expressed her desire to contest and had remained hopeful till the end.
The leader had also been stopped from addressing the audience at the state conference of Muslim Youth league at Kozhikode in November last year.
