IUML activist, who sustained hack injuries, dies
Kozhikode: An IUML activist, who sustained hack injuries, died at Nadapuram here on Friday.
The deceased, Kaliyarambath Aslam (20), was acquitted by the court in the case pertaining to the murder of CPM activist Thooneri Shibin.
Police said that the attackers, who came in a car bearing a Kannur registration number, hacked Aslam when he was going to play football along with his friends. Aslam’s right hand was severed in the attack.
A severely injured Aslam was admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. However, he died later in the day.
It is not clear who hacked Aslam. Meanwhile, IUML alleged the role of CPM behind the murder.
A large posse of police personnel have been posted in Nadapuram to avoid untoward incidents.
It was in June that a court in Kozhikode acquitted 17 of the 18 accused in the murder of Shibin. Aslam was the third accused in the case.
