It was a painful duty, says Justice Arun Mishra on Maradu flat demolition
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Kerala government to file a report with regard to removal of debris of demolished apartment buildings in Maradu.
The state government informed in the court that they have complied with the SC order and demolished four illegal apartment complexes in Maradu that were built violating the Coastal Regulation Zone norms.
A bench of justices Arun Mishra and M R Shah then directed the state government to file a report with regard to removal of debris, which also fell in the backwaters.
Justice Arun Mishra said that it was a painful duty with regard to demolition and also hoped there wouldn’t be more illegal buildings constructed in Kerala.
The bench then posted the matter for further hearing on February 10.
