Kannur: CPM state committee member and Khadi Board Vice-Chairman P Jayarajan has come out against criticisms over state government allocating Rs 35 lakh for his official vehicle.
P Jayarajan took to Facebook and said that anti-left media houses are framing stories about purchasing a new official vehicle. He elaborated on why the purchase of car is inevitable. He also detailed about pro-employee measures taken by Khadi Board during LDF.
He also took the opportunity to have an apparent dig at Congress veteran and KPCC chief K Sudhakaran, who has been receiving flak for his alleged pro-RSS statements. Sudhakaran in his recent speech revealed that he supplied men to guard RSS sakhas (branches) in Kannur’s Edakkad, Thottada and Kizhunna. While Jayarajan in his Facebook post noted that “Once, on a Thiruvonam day, RSS workers barged into my house and hacked me multiple times. At that time I took refuge in a cane chair. P Jayarajan is still living among you only because of that defence. So it is not a big concern even if a bullet pierces the new car. It doesn’t matter if the new car would be bullet-proof or not.”
His Facebook post comes at a time when critics are targeting the extravaganza amid financial crisis. Last week government had sanctioned Rs 1.3 crore to buy new official vehicles for ministers GR Anil, VN Vasavan, V Abdurahiman and chief whip Dr N Jayaraj.
