Kochi: The raids by the income tax (IT) department at houses and offices of controversial NRI businessman Faris Abubacker in connection with alleged black money investments in real estate transactions continued for the third consecutive day. According to reports, his benami transactions and alleged political-film fraternity nexus are under scanner.

The case has been probed by the Chennai investigation unit. Kochi and Kozhikode offices are also assisting the probe team. It is learnt that Abubacker did not appear before the IT officials despite summons.

IT department has identified many real estate companies belonging to Abubacker, who has land deals in various places in the name of these companies. The officials claim black money investments in these real estate transactions. The Enforcement Directorate will register a case.

IT department revealed that Abubacker presently is in London. The plan is to issue summons once again. The officials have already attached the assets of his middlemen, say reports.
