Issuing biometric caste certificate under govt’s consideration: Kerala minister K Radhakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram: The government is deliberating to issue biometric caste certificate to reduce the difficulties faced by the eligible individuals in attaining it when they change their residing districts, said Minister of Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, K Radhakrishnan. The minister disclosed this during the assembly session the other day.

He also updated the assembly on other matters that are under ministry’s consideration.

Kerala institute for Research Training & Development studies of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (KIRTADS) under the ministry has been examining how to go about issuing allowances to Christian converts.

The law department has been instructed to examine the lapses over fixing priority of various sections in Devaswom Board appointments. Nevertheless, the opposition alleged that the priority SC had was given to economically weaker sections. Reacting to this, the minister said that no one will be allowed to grab the reservation provisions of SC/ST.
