ISRO espionage case conspiracy: CBI files FIR naming 18 as accused

Thiruvananthapuram: Former DGP Siby Mathews, former deputy director of IB RB Sreekumar and SP KK Joshua have been named accused in the ISRO espionage case conspiracy. The CBI filed the FIR in the conspiracy case in Thiruvananthapuram Chief Magistrate Court. A total of 18 people, including Kerala police and Intelligence Bureau officers, are named accused in the case.

The supreme court had directed the CBI to probe the case into the conspiracy following which scientist Nambi Narayanan was made accused in the espionage case. CBI registered the case in May this year. FIR was registered including a list of people who allegedly included Nambi Narayanan and others in the spy case.

S Vijayan was Pettah CI during the time of the case and was made first accused. The then Pettah SI Thampi S Durgadath was the second accused. Former Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner V R Rajeevan is the third accused. Former DGP Siby Mathews is the fourth accused and former deputy director of IB RB Sreekumar is the seventh accused.

Earlier, the espionage case was investigated by the CBI and found it was a fabricated case. Following this, Nambi Narayanan was acquitted. The CBI demanded a probe into the conspiracy which led to the espionage case.
