Islamic State links: Wayanad native arrested from Kannur
Kannur: Police have nabbed one person in Kannur for suspected links with the terrorist outfit Islamic State. Mohammed Haneef, a native of Kambalakkad in Wayanad district, was arrested from Peringathoor.
He was arrested in connection with a case registered by the Mumbai police. The charge against Haneef is that he conducted classes for the Keralites allegedly recruited to IS. The police have received information that he tried to spread religious extremism.
A team of the Mumbai police that arrived in Kannur the other day is interrogating Haneef at a secret place. The police were not ready to divulge more details.
