Alappuzha/Coimbatore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken three persons into custody for alleged links with terrorist organization Islamic State.
The three were nabbed in the raids conducted by the NIA team at Alappuzha and Coimbatore. While two persons are natives of Coimbatore, one person belongs to Alappuzha.
The NIA team had raided the residence of the Alappuzha native with the permission of the NIA court. It is learnt that the team seized DVDs, CDs, pendrives, and documents connected with Islamic State from the house.
NIA sources said that the Alappuzha native had interacted frequently with Kashmir native Abdul Rasheed, an Islamic State member.
It is assumed that the Alappuzha native had played a role in the secret meeting of the IS module held at Kanakamala in Kannur. NIA had filed the charge sheet against seven persons for hatching conspiracy at the secret meeting at Kanakamala.
The charge sheet says that the accused conspired to wage war against the country and to kill people including foreigners.
