Ponnani: Following ISIS terrorists attack threat, a team of Coast Guard found a boat of fishermen from Tamil Nadu in mid sea close to Kerala coast. As per intelligence reports, the coast guards first suspected the men in the white boat to be terrorists but it was confirmed they were fishermen from Tamil Nadu.

A few days back intelligence alerted that ISIS terrorists had set off to Lakshadweep and Minicoy islands in a white boat from Sri Lanka. On the basis of this, Coast guard, police and the Navy beefed up security in the coastal areas. The fishermen as well as coastal vigilance committee were also alerted to stay vigilant. Patrolling also intensified on sea and coastal areas.

On Monday, coast guard traced the boat in the mid sea of Munakkakadavu in Chavakkad near Thrissur.  It is reported that the Tamil Nadu natives purchased the boat from Mangalore. According to the fishermen in the boat, they got stranded in the sea after the engine of their boat got damaged.

Coast Guard also confirmed that the boat was registered in Tamil Nadu.

A team of Coastal police led by SI NP Sudheer carried out the inspection of the boat. Policemen Praveen, Prabhath and rescue guard Poolakkal Babu were in the team. Munakkakadavu coastal police took the boat and fishermen into custody.

Meanwhile, Ponnani police reported that there is nothing unnatural in the incident.
