Thrissur: Two persons died in Irinjalakuda here after consuming spurious liquor. Nisanth and Biju drank the liquor by around 9 pm on Monday. They fell unconscious soon after. Though they were rushed to hospitals, their lives could not be saved. Nisanth died on Monday night while Biju succumbed on Tuesday morning.
Biju was shifted to the Medical College on Monday night following the death of Nisanth. The hospital authorities informed police. They collected the liquid samples and it will be sent to the regional lab in Kakkanad for testing.
A 'spirit-like liquid' caused the death, police believe. However, the cause of death will be confirmed only after receiving the test results.
