Protest against opposition leader, V D Satheesan

Thiruvananthapuram: A group of INTUC members took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction against Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan who had recently commented that the trade union was not a feeder organisation of his party. The protest was staged by the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Kazhakootam constituency committee here on Saturday. The protestors shouted slogans against V D Satheesan and extended support to INTUC state president R Chandrashekharan. They also destroyed Satheesan’s photo during the protest.

The protests erupted after Satheesan’s comment in connection with the national strike called by the joint platform of central trade unions against the central government.

When it was pointed out that it was the INTUC that had organised the protest march, Satheesan had replied that "INTUC is not a feeder organisation of the Congress party, but an organisation with people who are associated with the Congress."

INTUC members on Friday had held a protest march in Changanassery town. Meanwhile, R Chandrashekharan held an online meeting of the INTUC members. Satheesan's remarks have not gone down well with the INTUC members across the state. The INTUC state president will hold a press conference at Thiruvananthapuram on Monday to present the organisation’s stand on the matter. INTUC's plans if KPCC does not interfere in the matter will also be declared.

INTUC leadership was forced to take a strong stance due to the unwavering stand of Satheesan on the matter and the unresponsiveness of KPCC leadership.
