Innocent not to resign as AMMA chief, apologises to media
Thrissur: Denying any deliberate attempt to ridicule the media at the recent press conference of Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), actor and MP Innocent apologised for the incident in which AMMA members hooted and booed the mediapersons.
Speaking to reporters at his residence here on Wednesday, Innocent rejected rumours about his resignation as AMMA President. “I have not thought about it even in my dreams. It is an absolutely wrong news.”
Asked about actors Mukesh and Ganesh Kumar, both legislators at Kerala Assembly, hitting out at the media during the press meet, Innocent said they never wanted to behave in such a way and was merely expressing their anxiety over the ongoing controversies and rumours surrounding the actress attack case. “However, that was a wrong move.”
Innocent also apologised for the booing incident during the press meet. He said he should have told them to stop, but was in a state of confusion.
The actor said the media has some misunderstanding about AMMA in connection with the actress case.
Asked about AMMA supporting Dileep, who is being interrogated by the police over the case, he said if any member of the association is proved guilty, action will be taken.
“I had a phone conversation with Dileep even yesterday. To be frank, I asked him if there is any truth in the rumours. He repeatedly said he does not have any role in the whole incident,” Innocent said while replying to a query.
