Kottayam: The nuns who fought for the survivor in the Kerala nun rape case said that the court verdict that acquitted Bishop Franco Mulakkal is unbelievable. Sister Anupama alleged that the case has been subverted with money and power. She declared that an appeal will be moved against the verdict.
Anupama also said that the group of nuns who came forward to support the survivor will fight until justice is served.
"In this world, anything can be achieved with money and influence. Bishop Franco has money and influence. We believe that all this happened because of money and influence," said Sister Anupama.
The justice ensured by the police and the prosecutor was not served by the judiciary. All the statements favoured our stance. But we faced a setback in the court. We didn't find any move to subvert the case during the hearing. But things turned upside down following it, she added.
"We are no more safe hereafter. We got police protection outside the convent. But we won't be able to disclose the incidents which occur inside the convent. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who supported us. We expect the support in future too," said Sister Anupama.
