Puppies that were found dead

Thiruvananthapuram: Two puppies were found dead after allegedly being stoned at Venkulam near Karode here on Saturday. Four other puppies from the same litter were found severely injured.

This is the latest among the attack on dogs reported in Kerala, in the wake of repeated rabies-related deaths and stray dog menace.

The 3-day-old puppies are strays residing near Rajeev Gandhi Memorial Building near the locality.

The attack on the puppies apparently happened on Friday night and the incident came to light after the dog started to moan from the next day morning.

The ward member of the locality lodged a complaint with police over the matter and officials are probing.

It may be noted that both state government and animal rights activist have urged citizens not to resort to such unscientific and cruel practices.
