Thiruvananthapuram: The government has ordered to grant Rs 1,500 as welfare pension for those who receive Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) pension for upto Rs 4000 per month on the basis of eligibility criteria. Currently, only those who receive EPF pension upto Rs 2000 are eligible to receive welfare pension.
Apart from this, those who receive upto Rs 4000 as part of National Pension Scheme and ex-gratia pension also are now eligible to receive full welfare pension of Rs 1500. However, those who get above Rs 4000 can receive only Rs 600 as welfare pension. Currently, those who get above Rs 2000 are receiving only Rs 600 as welfare pension.
The government also ordered to provide all types of welfare pensions and pensions of welfare boards to people aged above 85 years, those who are over 80 percent mentally or physically challenged and bedridden patients without Aadhaar card.
These people should produce Life certificate issued by gazetted officer and an affidavit stating they have no Aadhaar card. The pension amount was increased from Rs 1400 to Rs 1500 as per the order.
