Income Tax Department raids AICC cashier's residence in Kochi
Kochi: The Income Tax (I-T) Department on Saturday conducted raid at the house of AICC cashier here in Kochi in connection with the AICC’s black money transaction. A special team from Delhi raided the house of Mathews Varghese, hailing from Chottanikkara.
The officials said they had received information over his alleged role in the financial black money dealings. The raid which started at 4 am on Friday continued till Saturday.
Mathews oversees the AICC's major financial transactions. Mathews had lived in Delhi for more than 50 years. He usually manages transactions worth more than Rs 5 lakh. The department raided Mathew’s house after he returned to his native place. The officials said the department took the action as part of its probe over AICC Treasurer Ahmed Patel’s financial deals.
The Department had previously raided the offices of Megha Constructions in Hyderabad and Delhi. Megha Constructions is owned by Krishna Reddy, who is very close to Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao. There had been many raids here in recent days.
