Kochi: The fifth edition of the Kochi Muziris Biennale will be launched on Monday. The international contemporary art exhibition will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at 6 pm at the Fort Kochi Parade Ground. The biennale is returning after three years of absence due to the pandemic. The event was originally scheduled for December 2020 but was postponed.
The exhibition is titled ‘In our veins flow ink and fire’. It will be held across 14 venues and will last until April 10, 2023.
The biennale will welcome over 90 international artists from 35 nations, along with 33 Indian artists and 85 art installations. The exhibition is curated by Singapore-based artist Shubigi Rao.
Seminars, film screenings, performances and workshops will be held as part of the event. The 14 venues will include Ernakulam Durbar Hall, Cabral Yard, Pepper House, David Hall, Kashi Art Cafe, Kashi Town House, MAP Warehouse, Arman Building in Mattancherry, KVN Arcade, VKL Building, Trivandrum Building, and Anand Warehouse, informed Biennale Foundation President Bose Krishnamachari and Trustee Bonnie Thomas.
